Following her career as a professional dancer and choreographer, Deborah Skinner earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in dance from UC Irvine, a Master of Arts Degree from Mills College, and has extensive post graduate work in educational psychology. Ms. Skinner has taught at Ohlone College, Mills College, CSUH, and UC Berkeley. She is a well known teacher who has taught at regional conventions as well as on the national dance convention circuit. Ms. Skinner is an accomplished choreographer and skilled coach. Many of her students have gone on to be talented and working professionals in the dance arena.
She has recently completed a California Teachers Certificated program. And has just written Dance Masters of America preschool dance syllabus for use of professional teachers all over the world.
Deborah is founder and director of the Children’s Dance Theatre as well as Heartwork’s Early Education Program, a highly successful preschool that teaches kindergarten readiness skills through traditional, didactic methods as well as music, movement, performing arts, and creative problem solving activities.
A believer in life long education, Deborah is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum and Instruction.

I have been dancing since the age of five years old. I have studied Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Aerobatics, Hip Hop, and clogging. I have been teaching for 15 years. I have choreographed and performed in numerous productions such as “The Wiz”, “Alice in Wonderland”, “The Nutcracker” and many more. I also have choreographed many overall winners for regional dance competitions and pageants. I am currently serving as president of Dance Masters of California local chapter #13, in affiliation with Dance Masters of America. We are an organization of dance educators who are certified by test to teach. I have been Married for 9 years and have three kids, Joey 7 years old, Jillian 5 years old, and Jenna 10 months.
